INTRODUCTION:

The main objective behind Skillslance is to provide a platform for young individuals to assist in the development of necessary skills that are essential to excel in their professional and academic life. In Pakistan, young individuals are compelled to fit into the monotonous life-style the educational system offers. Due to this monotonous tone of life, they are unable to discover their potential and interests. The transition from childhood to adulthood can often be overwhelming. As per UNICEF, one in five adolescents suffers from mental health problems. It is reported that self-harm is one of the significant reasons for adolescent deaths.

GOAL:

Problem Statement: The adolescents, students, and young adults in Pakistan are deprived of resources and platforms that can cater to their creative mindset, personal, professional, cognitive ability growth and polish it further.

To overcome the monotony and stay true to the objective, Skillslance aims to provide free-of-cost sessions on basic concepts of various fields such as:

  • IT
  • Graphic designing
  • Sketching
  • Writing
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Freelancing
  • Public speaking
  • Arts & Crafts

Career counseling is extremely beneficial and vital for adolescents. The guidance can make the process of deciding a future career trouble-free. Career counseling sessions will be conducted to help students choose the right prospective career based on their interests. The following details will be discussed:

  • How to choose a field based on your interests
  • Future of every respective field in Pakistan
  • How to choose a university for each field
  • A brief insight into what each area offers

Cognitive skills are the fundamental skills that help the brain learn, make decisions, think critically, and pay attention. Therefore, it is necessary to engage adolescents in activities that can improve their cognitive function. To attain this purpose, the following steps will be taken:

  • Development of creative activities that enhance:
  • Memory-based learning
  • Decision-making skills
  • Attention span

The platform is open to everyone willing to improve their skill set. However, the activities and course outline are designed especially for adolescents and young adults. Our target audience is:

  • Students (Adolescents and young adults) from Urban and Rural areas from all over Pakistan access the internet and smartphones belonging to the lower middle class or lower class households.

Families with low income are forced to compromise on the education of their children. They have no other choice but to enroll their children in a school that does not charge a hefty amount. Such schools often do not focus on the personal and professional development of their students.

TIMELINE:

TASK DIVISION AMONG THE MEMBERS:

The tasks are assigned to every group member based on the Eisenhower Matrix. All the critical and urgent tasks are to be completed within 1.5 weeks.

For the division of tasks, we have created four teams:

  1. Marketing Team
  2. Management Team
  3. Scheduling Team
  4. PR Team

Maham and Aisha lead the marketing team. They are responsible for gathering an audience and ensuring that the marketing strategy is applied effectively to see maximum results. Amna and Anas lead the management team. They are responsible for creating engaging posts every day on the social media platform. Furthermore, it is her responsibility to guarantee hassle-free sessions every week. Scheduling is under Maaz and Saad. They have to ensure the sessions do not clash with each other and are according to each volunteer’s feasibility. Lastly, the PR team is the responsibility of Maham. She is supposed to reach out to people and ask if they are willing to volunteer.

ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES:

1. Gathering an audience: It is no secret that living in the era of information overload can be mind-boggling. This makes the task of gathering the right audience troublesome. As a platform, our magic window to reach the perfect target audience is small. There are continuous swings and developments every day, the major challenge is to be consistent along with being connected and relatable.

2. Marketing and Promotion: While steering through today’s great array of the convoluted market for promoting a business idea, it’s a huge battle for everyone, but when it comes to nonprofit organizations, it is 10 folds difficult The main challenge for marketing and promotions that we might have to face is the lack of professional support since everything is initially volunteer-based.

3. Finding the expert volunteers: The responsibility of finding the right volunteer to convey the basics is crucial and very important. It is necessary to make sure that the person chosen has the capability to convey his/her knowledge in an efficient manner.

4. Managing the event and conducting the sessions in a hassle-free manner: Managing a virtual event is not everyone’s piece of cake. It is challenging and requires expertise to make it smooth and engaging.

OVERCOMING THE ANTICIPATED CHALLENGES:

1. By doing marketing on Facebook, Instagram, other relevant social media platforms, and WOM marketing.

2. Engaging social media marketing and promotion experts, getting help from them, and disseminating google forms to schools and colleges.

3. By observing our circles and identifying the experts.

4. By assigning tasks to each team member and ensuring they perform their tasks properly.

CONCLUSION:

Our goal is to be able to polish and nurture the youth of Pakistan. As a team, we are putting our heart and soul into it and doing every possible thing to make it successful. We hope we are able to accomplish our goal.
