#JustStart your goals
What does the word “Goal” mean?
“It is an idea or vision that the person is passionate about and wants to achieve in this life”
Everything that we see in this world today, we owe it to the ones who existed before us and had a goal which they achieved. Your goal is your vision. A vision can only be brought to life if you are willing to invest your time into it.
A lot of people feel disconnected from their purpose in this world, they believe life has no meaning and it’s just a rat race where surviving is important. Such people are those that have never given their goals a thought, or maybe they refuse to acknowledge the existence of the word “Goal”. Imagine a life without a vision, none of us would want that. Your vision is your goal, the driving force behind the purpose of your life. If you haven’t set your goals yet, I suggest you do it in this moment. If you have set your goals but you are waiting for the right moment to start working on achieving them, I want you to know that this is the right moment, start right now.
On this note, I’d like to share my journey about how I plan on achieving a small goal from my goal list.
Goal: Re-introduce the habit of reading to myself.
I have always been fond of reading as a child. I used to spend hours everyday reading the Goosebumps series by R.L Stine. Even during my teenage days, I remember buying and reading several novels. As life moved forward, I left something behind and I did not realize it until now.
Now, I am determined to re-introduce the habit of reading into my life not only because I enjoy reading but because it also plays a very important role in my personal growth.
Reading serves as a mean of increasing your knowledge, challenging and forcing your creative mind to activate, polish your personality as well as your writing skills. My goal is to achieve all of this by simply start reading again.
“You are what you read”
Some scientists are of the believe that reading can have a very positive impact on your personality. If you are into fictional novels, you are more likely to be friendly and very well-behaved. Similarly, if you are into romance/drama, chances are that your ability to understand other people and your surroundings are brilliant.
BOOST YOUR IMAGINATION:
When you sit down to read a book, your brain automatically starts creating an image of all the scenarios described. Ultimately, it boosts one’s imagination which can prove to be an extremely handy tool in life.
IMPROVE WRITING ABILITIES:
Reading can help improve one’s writing skills in several ways. People who write often are well-aware of the fact that reading and writing capabilities are in a direct relationship with each other.
BROADEN MIND:
When you read different books and articles, you come across several new ideas and perspectives that help you broaden your thinking process.
How I am going to re-introduce reading into my life style:
- Finish at least one novel each week
- Read at least one article every night before going to sleep.
- Write a small summary/review of the novel I read at the end of the week.
Reading an entire novel in one week may seem impossible but it’s not. If I can cut down my screen time by at least 2 hour and give it to reading, I can easily reach the target. The benefit of doing this? Many of us waste a lot of time scrolling unnecessarily on social websites, we can also cut down on them by doing this.
Reading one article everyday is not that hard. It may hardly take 10-minutes. Benefits? You can keep yourself updated with the latest news around the world which will ultimately help you increase your knowledge.
I am giving 4 weeks to myself for accomplishing this goal. A lot of people believe that it takes around 21 days to form a habit. I am really excited to start this journey of mine and hoping that the results will be fruitful.
