HOW TO PROCRASTINATE(NOT)!
Are you tired of losing focus in between performing tasks?
If yes, You and I are in the same boat. For someone who has a really short attention span, performing tasks efficiently and finalizing them in the allotted time can seem nearly impossible.
Having a short attention span isn’t the only problem. There is something bigger and even more scarier, something that is unavoidable (not really though), it’s known as Procrastination.
What is Procrastination?
The process of holding back on completing a task until the last minute.
Our perception of Procrastination is extremely unfair and irrational. It is considered as a flaw, which it most definitely isn’t. At times, it is believed that it is unavoidable. The problem lies in the lack of effort to over-come the issue.
If you belong to the certain group of people who have presumed that Procrastination is a trait that is so deeply embedded into your personality now, it is hard to do anything about it, I have a little surprise for you.
The surprise goes by the name of Pomodoro's technique. The question arises, what exactly is the Pomodoro’s technique?
Does it work?
Safe to say, it does. I tested this technique on myself, and even though it was very challenging considering it was the first time, I was able to succeed.
How did I do it?
I chose the task I was laying off for some days. Without any surprise, it was an assignment for the most dry subject I have ever had to study. Previously, I spent an hour and a half working on the assignment but I was unable to finish it or produce quality content. Why? Because of lack of focus and a lot of distractions around me.
I started the assignment again keeping the Pomodoro’s technique in mind and followed every step. To my surprise, I was able to do the assignment in 45 minutes.
The first 25-minutes were very hard, the urge to pick up my phone and check my notifications was almost impossible to not do. However, it got better in the second 25-minutes and then it only kept getting better.
The notion that a kick-start is required to get you to perform a task is far-fetched. The belief on this particular concept can contribute to procrastination to an extent. Be in-charge of your time and use it wisely.
